ANNOTATION | |
This teaching and learning package provides an introduction to crystalline, polycrystalline and amorphous solids, and how the atomic-level structure has radical consequences for some of the properties of the material. It provides the fundamental ideas and principles associated with the field of crystallography, an introduction to X-ray diffraction. It describes the main crystallographic information that can be obtained and experimental methods most commonly used. The course is a consistent, logical presentation of the material, the assimilation of which is checked with the help of control questions, test tasks, the main concepts and terms are highlighted (which must be remembered for life!), a huge digital material is provided. The most important part of the course consists of examples and problems, either brought to a specific numerical solution, or forming a "homework". | |
